Hi everybody.
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but search results haven't returned what I'm looking for. The thing is, I downloaded a movie, which I want to burn to DVD including subtitles, but when I run it through Subtitle Workshop and Windows Media Player, it just lasts nine seconds (it is not interrupted. The progress bar reports that length). Other players like Zoom or VirtualDub report the movie's full two hours. The main problem for me is that I can't adjust the subtitles since Subtitle Workshop has this problem, so I'd like to know how to fix it. Thank you in advance for your input.
I'm just got gentoo installed and working on my laptop...I'm loving gentoo so far.
I downloaded the second cd, but I don't see docs anywhere on how to install from there and not have emerge get it from the internet. I'm sure there are docs on it somewhere, but I can't find them. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
i've seached serveral times in several different ways. i downloaded some anime and after burning them onto DVDs, the subs are cut off. ppl say oh it's just the cut off point on some TVs but that is B.S. I say it's BS because other ppl who've burned the same files "naruto" and the subs show fine on my widescreen tv. but when I do it using tmpgenc express & then dvdlab pro, i get cut off subs on my TV.
if i put the same dvd (with the cut off subs) into my cpu they show perfectly. I can then play the movie on my cpu and watch it on my TV, and the subs arn't cut off. that right there really pisses me off. come to think of it, i've only used my ps2 to play em. maybe if i used a dvd player they'd show fine on my tv, is that a possibility??? i'll check into that tomrrow.
anyone out here that has had this problem and fixed it without resizing the video ???? the ppl i got some anime from that played perfectly on my TV I can't get in contact with anymore to find out how they did it. so any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. any anime fans on the site???
I look for help because I can't play any DVD disc in a Toshiba Notebook A10 S1001.
I download the soft “DISC Info version 1.6.1” and the results are:
D: TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R2412
Firmware version: 1431
Vendor specific: 08/08/03
Extra info IT
Toshiba SD-R2412
Drive region status: Lock Detected
Region setting status Set
User changes left: 4
Manufactor resets left: 4
Current region set: 1
Read speed: 24x Write speed: 24x
Access Driver: SPTI (WinNT/2k/XP)
I went too to “http://video.biosdriver.net/?curpage=14&squery=Dell Toshiba Firmware, Use DISCInfo to check the status of your drives”. and found
14 SD-R2412_1431.zip zip 156.1 KB 29-May-06 1431 for the SD-R2412 (FOR DRIVES WITH 14XX FIRMWARE ONLY!)
I download the following firmwares: R2412_1018, R2412-1031, R2412-1615, R2412-X431, made a bootable cd disc with them I try to flash a new firmware. All of them result in HEX FILE ERROR.
Coul'd someone help me with this?
Thank you
I'm going to be traveling to a country where broadband isn't (cheaply) available and would like to be able to install a Gentoo system or two. Is it possible to purchase a DVD set of all of the packages? I couldn't find any site that provides this (the Gentoo store has only one CD) and I'd rather not download them all myself and burn them.
Cheers
I do stage 2 of installation, then, when grub is merging (after downloading), it says to me:
!!!Cannot write to '/boot'
!!!Please check permissions and directories for broken symlinks.
!!!You may start the merge process again by using ebuild:
!!!ebuild /usr/portage/sys-apps/grub/grub-0.92-r1.ebuild merge
!!!And finish by running this:env-update
I know nothing about what to do.
Maybe the thing is that i have winxp (hda1 - os, hda2 - different data). With fdisk i'we made hda6 - boot, hda7 - swap, hda8 - for system and i'we pointed hda6 as bootable with the help of 'a' command of fdisk.
Help me!!!
from /etc/make.conf
# The main Gentoo Linux Portage server; specify a single Portage server.
#SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"
# An alternate download server if you prefer anoncvs. emerge dev-util/cvs

# just hit Enter.
#SYNC="cvs://:pserver:anonymous@gentoo.org:/home/anoncvs"
Ok. I'm behind a corporate firewall which doesn't allow not CVS nor RSYNC.
I managed to install gentoo using the portage-tree snapshot at the FTP but..
I suppose it would be a good idea to allow easier ways to sync the portage tree...
Hi,
I've looked through the forums and the portage docs but I can't find anything that tells me exactly what emerge is doing. Is it downloading sources, meta descriptions or what? Any links?
Secondly, and this is why I want to know the answer to the above, we have a 10mbs fibre connection but with severe bandwidth restrictions. If we go over our limit our bill goes through the roof. I'm sitting next to a machine that I have just typed in emerge sync on (as in the installation instructions) wondering exactly how angry my boss is going to get at me. I have a bad feeling that its download the source for 4000 packages. What is the case?
Thanks,
Willie
I'm trying to update the above, but the download is a .bin file, but no .cue. Anybody any ideas? To add to the problem, the manual says you need to unzip it first......
