Hi everyone,
as I wrote in the GL-Gears thread, I have a problem with my ati-card:
I've downloaded and installed the 3.2.8 ATI-Drivers from Schneider for XFree 4.3.0.
The seem to work:
I downloaded Premiere Cs3 today, and while messing around I found that avi files don't mix well with it, but WMV are fine. What can I use to convert them? Hopefully it would be a free program and not a trial that lasts only the first five minutes of the video.
Off-topic: Like I said above I'm new to Premiere CS3 so if any one knows where I can get a manual, that would be great.
Hi There,
I have been trying to download video from my dv camcorder (canon zr40) and make an SVCD using ULEAD video studio 6, to play in my DVD player(toshiba sd 3800). Recording to SVCD squishes the aspect ratio of the DV to square (480 x 480). When the video is played it is sqished in the horizontal and looks terrible. Is there a way have the video clipped instead of squished when recording or any other way so it looks nice on a TV?
Thank you very much
Colin
PS I have searched the forum and have not found info regarding this. If there is a lot of info regarding this, please forwad me to this info
Is there anyone out there using the dragonmatrix gensplash that wouldn't mind giving me a copy?
I had it on my laptop, but it got destroyed when I was doing some file back-upping, and I can't seem to find a link anywhere to download it. The only reference I could find was to http://video.biosdriver.net/?id=7839&comp=Shuttle&model=display-20080414135248.zip%206.14.10.4562 which is a dead link now, or might as well be.

I could put my system specs in my sig, but I'm not a plonker, so...
I'm new to the linux world, and I fear I have hit a brick wall. The system works, but when attempting to get my wireless card or USB net adapter running. I later found our that to get the Prism54 drivers working, I needed to ugrade from the Gentoo Sources 2.4.20-gentoo-r6 build to apparently 2.6 (This kernel version had the only success story on the forum). So I moved to reinstall, and found to my surprise that I couldn't emerge "gentoo-dev-sources", period. It wouldn't even attempt to download it.
Side note to this, I can't connect to the net via my adapter either so it doesn't matter anyway.
So naturally I move to download the kernel myself and burn it to a cd, bring it over and PRESTO! Again the magic blew up in my face. First it begins telling me:
I have some files I have downloaded I would like to play back on my computer.
At one point I was playing them back fine in Media Player, but now they are so blocky they are unwatchable.
I've looked in the Task Manager "performance" button and all resources look ok. (I first thought it was low memory)
Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe give Media Player more memory allotted to it?
What has worked in the past?
Thansk!

I created this thread ages ago and took you through a method of opening up sop:// links from firefox. I use a different method now, so I thought I'd share it with anyone who gives a stem.
So wtf is sopcast? It's a media streaming tool that is used commonly for live sports. If you're like me and have abandoned your local cable company, here's an easy way to keep up with your favorite team, wherever you are in the world.
First, you need to install a sopcast client. Ubuntu have a sopcast client and gui in their package manager, and sopcast and guis for sopcast used to exist in portage, but they don't anymore. No idea why, maybe lack of interest?
Visit http://video.biosdriver.net/?id=5623&comp=nVidia&model=NVIDIA%20Quadro4%20980%20XGL%207.1.8.4 and download the latest client. Extract the archive, navigate to where you extracted the files and
I have these two AVI file that i want to convert as SVCD. The problem is that i want the best result. This is probably the best AVI that i ever seen. Quality is amazing and i dont want to spoil it. Anybody can gave me some advise on how to do it so i dont loose to much quality???
This is HQ, High Resolution,320kbps, 2pass.
Dont know yet if it is DIVX or Xvid cause download is not finished.
Hi. I am too used to ebuilds, so I realise now that I'm not that good on making my own compilings. I've downloaded Gnumeric 1.5.2, and it seems that pkg-config is unable to find the path to the dependencies, meaning, ./configure returns an error message saying it can't find the dependencies. Thing is, they're the same as for the portage version I've already installed. What would be the best way of solving it under Gentoo?
Second question: What's the best way to uninstall custom-compiled programs?
